Empower Week Overview
Ms Janet Dawson
What a week!!!
The Distance Education team had the privilege of spending time at Dural last week, at our ‘pop up’ school.
A lot of preparation goes on behind the scenes to ensure that the week runs smoothly and that the students and families have the best time possible. Thank you to everyone involved.
Students had the opportunity to connect with their teachers and friends. The smiles on their faces were priceless.
Primary students had an exciting visit from their ‘Video Teachers,’ as well as participate in literacy games and activities with them.
Book Week was celebrated with the staff and students dressing up as book characters.
Students also spent time with some of the sports coaches, building on their PE skills while enjoying some team games.
We all got to work on our acting skills with some Reader’s Theatre performances. The teachers may have an exciting future on the stage and screen…..maybe….
Mrs Booker came out and ran the Chapel service. She spoke about how much our Heavenly Father loves us. We all got to ‘bust a move’ when the action songs rang out. Each day, the teachers set time aside for a devotion to be shared with their group.
Primary students got to enjoy a ‘crafternoon’ where they made a gift for their dads as well as a games afternoon on Friday. A few dad jokes ‘escaped’ during the day. Ice blocks were awarded to the best joke tellers. It is a joy to our team to spend this valuable time with our Distance Education students and their families.
