Cassandra Beaupre (Year 3) selected for Sydney Kidz Fashion Week 2023

Congratulations to Cassandra in Year 3 who was chosen to participate in Sydney Kidz Fashion Week 2023.

Her parents Patrick and Aysa said, “This is a lifelong dream for Cassandra. Since she was three years old she has been practicing, auditioning, singing and dancing. We are so proud of her perseverance and thank God immensely that this opportunity has come her way.”

The theme for this year was ‘Ur Style’ where kids got to showcase their own style and creativity. Cassandra chose to be in the International category embracing her diversity and showing her personality in her style. She created the look below to model her Filipino and Mauritian background on stage featuring her fun and colourful personality.

“We are also so thankful to the ACC school community for all the support, she is so happy and thriving here,” her parents said. “She loves the lunch time activities and has joined Choir, JOLT, Chess Club, Drama Club and made it to the Rep netball team. Our entire family feels blessed to be part of this community and have a child who is so actively involved. Thank you!”

Seng Feng (Year 8) selected as a Finalist in the Mosman Youth Art Prize 2023

We are excited to share this great news from Sean, one of our Distance Education students in Year 8. His watercolour artwork, ‘Far from the Madding Crowd’ has been selected as a Finalist in the Mosman Youth Art Prize 2023, held in Mosman Art Gallery.

Sean’s mum, Vivien, told us that Sean has been interested in sketching and painting since he was six years old. He has received numerous awards, including being selected as runner-up of his age group to receive the Young Australian Art Awards for three years since 2020.

Sean says that art ‘lights up his life’. During the darkest times of his life, facing bullying at a previous school, his love of art has carried him through. Sean particularly enjoys the videos that his Visual Arts teacher, Ms Oloaga posts on the Distance Education student portal every week.

These videos have taught him a lot of theoretical knowledge about Western Art History and provided him with a deep understanding of colour inspiration. He says Mrs Oloaga’s video tutorials are vivid, detailed and demonstrative.

His mum Vivien said, “I would like to express my sincere thanks to Australian Christian College for providing Sean with such a good online education. We are hopeful and looking forward to him transitioning to on campus study again soon.”

Congratulations, Sean!
