SECONDARY SCHOOL UPDATE Mr Jonathan Brayshaw
Dear Parents & Carers,
Welcome to Term 3! Our Year 12 Class of 2026 will graduate at the end of this term! Please join me in praying for all of our Year 12 students as they commence their Trial HSC Examinations next week.
It has been an exciting start to term, including our Year 12 students showcasing their HSC Major Works for Music, Drama, Visual Arts and Industrial Technology Multimedia. We have also had the privilege of hosting 24 students visiting us from Neyagawa High School in Japan. Across the course of the week, visiting students were buddied with our Year 9, 10, and 11 Languages students.
This week all Secondary Homerooms were introduced to their Global Classmate as part of our partnership with Compassions. Over the next two weeks, our students are involved in activities consisting of letter writing and poster creations and it has been encouraging to see our students engage in this partnership with joy and curiosity as we establish connections with Global Classmates. While our Global Classmates are from several different countries, many of them are in the Philippines. As you continue introducing your Homerooms to their Global Classmate, you may like to spend some time exploring this snapshot of Compassion's work in the Philippines. It provides helpful insight into the local context and the impact Compassion is having in the lives of children, families and communities. Our Year 8 and 9 cohorts also engaged in the Compassion Village Game Workshop, learning about the strengths, hopes and dignity of families in the communities where Compassion serves.
As we move forward, please know that our lines of communication are always open:
Should you wish to communicate with your child between 8:00 am and 3:10 pm, please contact the Secondary Hub reception via email or on 02 9421 7111.
If you need to contact your child’s teacher, the first point of contact should be with the Homeroom Teacher.
For matters about pastoral care or information about year level programs, it is best to reach out to your child’s Year Coordinator.
HSC MUSIC SHOWCASE NIGHT Mr Matt Woods
Our recent HSC Performance Showcase was a wonderful celebration of the talent, dedication and hard work of our Music students. Throughout the evening, audiences were treated to a diverse program featuring performances on vocals, guitar, drums and piano, with students confidently presenting the repertoire they have been refining throughout their HSC studies.
The showcase featured a rich variety of musical styles, including intense rock anthems, sweet and heartfelt ballads, captivating musical theatre pieces, full band performances and incredible solo acts. Each performance reflected the unique strengths and personalities of our students, creating an engaging and memorable experience for all who attended.
Congratulations to all performers and support crew for an exceptional showcase. The evening was a testament to the strength of our Music program and the supportive community that encourages students to develop and share their God-given talents.
HSC TAS SHOWCASE NIGHT Mr Ron Raj
The Technological and Applied Studies (TAS) Faculty recently celebrated the creativity, skill and dedication of our Year 12 students at the HSC Showcase Night. It was a wonderful evening, with students proudly sharing their major projects with families, staff and members of the school community. We thank God for blessing our students with unique skills and talents, which they have developed and shared so generously through their major projects.
Food Technology students presented an impressive range of innovative food product development projects. Their displays included nutritious snacks, baked goods and culturally inspired foods, such as mochi donuts, protein-based treats, fruit roll-ups, zucchini chips and sweet soy pork bao buns. Each product demonstrated careful research, product testing, food preparation, presentation and consideration of the needs of a target market.
Design and Technology students showcased an inspiring collection of major design projects, including sustainable fashion pieces, up-cycled denim designs, furniture, architectural concepts, mobile applications, mental health resources, a 4WD slide-out kitchen and environmentally focused solutions. Their work demonstrated thoughtful problem-solving, creativity and a commitment to designing products that respond to real-world needs.
Industrial Technology Multimedia (ITM) students also impressed guests with a diverse range of original films, animations and digital media projects. Their major works explored themes including mental health, connection, emotion, dance, fantasy and everyday life. Through these projects, students demonstrated high-level skills in storytelling, animation, filming, editing and sound production.
The showcase night was also an opportunity for our students to reflect on the perseverance required to bring a major project from an initial idea to a finished product. It was encouraging to see them confidently explain their creative process and receive such positive feedback from the community.
A special thank you goes to our dedicated TAS staff who supported students throughout their project journey: Food Technology teacher Mrs Ranjit and kitchen hand Mrs Haora, Design and Technology teacher Mrs Aydin supported by Mr Jordan, and Industrial Technology Multimedia teacher Mr Raj supported by Mr Neale.
The evening was a fitting celebration of the hard work, resilience and creativity of our Year 12 TAS students.
HSC DRAMA SHOWCASE NIGHT Mr Liam Tomalaris
Tuesday evening was an exciting night for the Year 12 Drama class, as they were finally able to present and showcase their major works that they have been working on from the last year. They did an exceptional job demonstrating the culmination of their skills and learning in Drama from their time in the Senior Drama course. Our evening was filled with stories of aliens, love, loss, war and crazy taxi drivers.
It is always such a delight to see our students rise to the occasion, and use these showcase opportunities as a means to demonstrate not only excellence in their performance skills, but also as a chance to come together as a community to support one another and truly highlight the unique and precious connection that the Drama space cultivates. This is exemplified in the return of some of our 2025 college alumni, who attended this event as a means to specifically encourage and support the current Drama class through the challenges they faced only a few months ago.
Beyond that we want to thank everyone that was able to attend, parents, peers and staff, and recognise their ongoing support for these students as they continue to embark on the most challenging year of their schooling career.
