Swimming
Following on from our success at the Zone Swimming carnival, a number of students represented ACC at the CSSA State Swimming Carnival. Our students performed really well on the day,, with a number of our students achieving personal best times in their events. A special mention to James Notley (Year 2), who was the 8 Years Boys Age Champion!
Gymnastics
Our 2024 Gymnastics program was a huge success again this year. From Kindergarten to Year 6, our students had the opportunity to access amazing facilities at the Sydney Gymnastic and Aquatic Centre (SGAC) to develop their coordination, strength and self-confidence to embrace new challenges.
From mini trampolines and balance beams, to parallel bars, dismounts and floor routines, our students learned a variety of new skills and had tremendous fun in doing so!
School Sport
Over the past 4 weeks, our Year 1 and Year 2 students have had the opportunity to participate in some coaching sessions, led by our Year 9 and Year 10 Sports and Exercise Science (SES) students. They have been led through a series of coaching drills as part of their Sports Coaching course. This has been a fantastic initiative, allowing our Secondary and Primary students to enjoy and experience their learning together.
Interschool Sport
Term 2 will see the return of interschool sport. This year ACC will field an increased number of teams in Netball, Football, Oztag and Teeball, providing an even greater number of students with the opportunity to represent the College in sporting teams. The competition will run each Wednesday, from Week 2 to Week 9.
CSSA Netball
Three girls from Stage 3 recently attended the CSSA State Primary Netball trials, at Northern Beaches Christian School. All three students performed well throughout the day. Congratulations to Myah Allen, who was successful in being selected into the team. We look forward to hearing all about the State Carnival next term.
CSSA School Triathlon
During Week 10, a team of 22 students, from both Primary and Secondary, travelled to the International Regatta Centre in Penrith to compete in both Duathlon (run/bike/run) and Triathlon (swim/bike/run) events. For the majority of our students, this was their first experience competing in a multisport-style event, and they each can be proud of their efforts on the day.
Under grey skies, our individual athletes competed in the Triathlon events, before the team Triathlon and Duathlon events began. Our teams certainly got to experience the ‘best’ of the weather, as the heavens opened up and the rain came down. They were not deterred, and everybody embraced the wet conditions, swimming, riding and running around the course with enthusiasm and a big smile on their faces.
Year 6 Futsal
A group of Year 6 students recently competed at the recent FNSW Schools Futsal Championships. The boys did very well for their first time and lost in the semi-final to St. John XXIII Catholic College. Well done boys!
