PRIMARY SCHOOL UPDATE Vivian Lee (Primary Community & Ministry Coordinator)

As we move further into Term 1, it continues to be a joy to see the steady rhythm of learning and community life across our Primary School. Classrooms remain vibrant places of curiosity and growth, playgrounds are filled with energy and our students are settling well into the routines and expectations of the year.

One of the great strengths of our Primary School is the dedicated team of staff who work behind the scenes and alongside our teachers to ensure that every student is supported, encouraged and cared for. This week, we would like to highlight the wonderful people who form part of our Student Support and Wellbeing Team.

Primary Counsellors Snapshot Our School Counsellors play a vital role in supporting the emotional wellbeing of our students. They work closely with students, teachers and families to help children navigate challenges, build resilience and develop healthy social and emotional skills.

We thank God for the compassion and heart of:

  • Julee Jacobi

  • Roshal Mathew

Together, they provide thoughtful care to many students and families across the Primary School.

Learning Support Teachers Our Learning Support Teachers work closely with classroom teachers to ensure that students are supported in their learning journey. Through targeted support, collaboration and specialised strategies, they help students grow in confidence and capability across all areas of learning.

We are thankful for the expertise and dedication of:

  • Jacqui Aldis

  • Nicole Zarate

  • Annie Morsillo

Together, this team plays an important role in ensuring that every student has the opportunity to flourish and feel confident in their learning.

Teaching Assistants Our Teaching Assistants are a tremendous blessing to our classrooms. They work closely with teachers and students each day, offering encouragement, practical support and individual guidance that helps learning come alive.

We are grateful for the faithful service of:

  • Leni Rietdijk

  • Hannah Sladen

  • Estelle Kyriazis

  • Bobbi Tiongson

  • Felicit Finly Edwin Das

  • Kathy Taylor

Their patience, care and willingness to serve make a meaningful difference in the daily experience of our students.

Primary Hub Assistants Our Hub Assistants provide invaluable support in maintaining the organisation and smooth running of key learning spaces across the Primary School.

Thank you to:

  • Roshni Abraham

  • Neisha Balzan

Their work and dedication ensures that teachers and students have the resources and support they need each day.

The Clinic Our Clinic staff care for students in Kindergarten - Year 12 when they are unwell or in need of medical support during the school day. Their attentiveness and professionalism ensures that students receive prompt care and reassurance when needed.

We thank:

  • Deb Somanader

  • Jones Bresnev

for the calm and compassionate care they provide to our school community.

Primary Duty Officer Our Primary Duty Officer plays an important role in supporting the daily operations of our Primary School, both in the playground and classroom.

We are thankful for the faithful service of Tony Johnston, whose presence contributes greatly to the safety and organisation of our Primary School.

We thank God for each member of this dedicated team. Their work often takes place quietly and faithfully behind the scenes, yet it has a profound impact on the wellbeing, growth and success of our students. Together, they help create an environment where every child is known, supported and encouraged to thrive.

We thank God for the gift of such a committed and caring community.

MARSDEN BEAR JOINS 1R Sarah Roberts

1R were overjoyed to learn that Marsden Bear would be spending two weeks with our class. Marsden Bear was one busy koala, joining in on all our learning, coming with us to Gymnastics at SGAC, having library lessons, visiting Chapel and Assembly and walking over to the new K-2 art room for our Art lessons. 1R noticed that at the end of his time with us, Marsden Bear had hugely improved with his recognition of digraphs, his spelling and his work with addition. What a courageous learner you are Marsden Bear!

1R took lots of time and care to make sure that Marsden Bear understood how we are good stewards of the property we have been blessed with in Year 1. Marsden Bear watched 1R and learned how to use his whiteboard to show his thinking and how to ‘park it’ when he had done. He even remembered not to draw on it during learning time!

Marsden Bear still managed to find time in his busy koala schedule for lots of cuddles, picnics and fun. He joined in with lots of games at recess and lunch – after he had eaten all his gum leaves, of course! 1R ended our time with Marsden Bear by drawing some koala-ty (quality) koalas, inspired by our guest. Thank you for visiting 1R, Marsden Bear - please come back soon!
