Cricket Stage 3 Gala 20/20 Day
Mrs Melanie Woods
Our students left nice and early and were very eager to be a part of the CSSA Cricket 20/20 Gala Day this week. The Sage 3 students who attended were team players and worked together to continue to learn valuable cricket skills. They played two games and have made it to the next event with two wins under their belts. A thank you to the students representing our school with kindness and professionalism and thank you to Mr Somanader for coaching the team.
JOLT Leadership Team
Mrs Melanie Woods
JOLT stands for Jesus Over Lunch Time for our students. All ages can attend different JOLT groups throughout the week. They play games, learn new skills and learn more about Jesus - the Saviour of the world.
In the photo below, you will see our JOLT student leadership Team. These students support all our students who attend while growing their leadership skills. This photo was taken after this week's Chapel where these students play a significant role in the running of the Chapel service from public speaking to creative performances to multimedia. Thank you for stepping up and using your gifts and talents to help others!
What amazing writers you are becoming! Our Kindergarten authors.
Miss Bianca Kleinig
Our Kindergarten students have grown in so many ways over the course of the year - not just growing physically, but in their confidence in the classroom! In Term 4, it has been a delight to watch our Kindergarten students learn about the different elements involved in writing a narrative.
We began by examining the various components through our ‘explicit direct instruction’ model - characters, setting, problem, solution. This week specifically, our students have learned about the role of characters in a story and how to identify characters as a person or creature that thinks, feels, acts and speaks.
Our classes discussed ‘good’ and ‘bad’ characters using descriptive language to identify their features. We studied the Three Little Pigs and focused on the wolf and his character traits.
Some students chose to look at the story from the wolf's perspective and discussed whether he was innocent or not. The students have really enjoyed their literacy time and will begin to focus on using the five senses to describe a setting and paint a picture with their words.
Please enjoy some of our writing in the images below.
Stage 1 Music Lessons
Mrs Bethany Thomson
Stage 1 students have continued their enjoyment of music lessons throughout the year. Students begin each lesson by developing their music theory, specifically singing and signing the Solfege method. A highlight of music lessons has been the excitement and fun when playing boom whackers, glockenspiels and bells. The upbeat songs always bring on smiles of joy and laughter. Music is a wonderful gift from the God of the Bible, and it is a real blessing to see students enjoy this gift.

The Learning Enrichment Centre – who are we and what do we do?
Who are we? Meet our staff team!
Our team comprises of the following staff members: Amanda Clark (Head of Learning Enrichment), Analicia Annandale, Ann-Louise Clark, Anoja Perera, Norm Fitzgerald, Leanne Johnson, Selena Tay, Kathy Taylor, Fiona Thomas, Gailene Van Niekerk.
What do we do?
God tells us that every child is formed in His image and is fearfully and wonderfully made. It is so exciting to be part of the ACC Learning Enrichment Centre (LEC) that has been established to help our students thrive.
We are dedicated to helping students reach their potential and this happens through classroom support, withdrawal groups, special programs, and teacher support, to name just a few of the roles. All students are supported to learn to value and respect themselves and each other.
One of the functions of our team is to provide in-class support to students who may require additional assistance with class work, or to support students extending their learning beyond grade level. Learning Enrichment staff collaborate closely with classroom teachers to identify areas of need.
Some students may benefit from more intensive, one-on-one or small-group support/classes. The Learning Enrichment team provides withdrawal groups, where students can receive specialised help in a more focused setting. These groups are designed to address specific learning difficulties or challenges that students face. This approach allows for targeted support to help students overcome hurdles and build essential skills. Other small groups support students working above a grade level to develop, extend, or practise new skills.
In addition to planned classroom support and withdrawal groups, our staff are often available for incidental support as requested by both teachers and students. Teachers may identify students who need assistance with certain assignments, projects, or concepts, and Learning Enrichment staff can provide guidance. Similarly, students who recognize their own challenges can reach out for help. This collaborative approach ensures that student’s unique needs are addressed promptly, helping them develop confidence and independence in their learning journey.
We also offer valuable assistance to classroom teachers. They provide resources, strategies, and training to educators to better accommodate the diverse needs of their students. This partnership between support staff and teachers fosters a community of educators dedicated to the success of every child.
Assessing a student’s progress is an essential aspect of the support provided by the Learning Enrichment team. Staff work in close collaboration with educators and parents to develop individualised education plans and monitor each student’s growth. Regular assessments help identify areas of improvement, track a student’s development, and adjust support strategies as needed. This ongoing evaluation ensures that students continue to receive the right level of support to help them reach their potential academically and personally.
Education isn’t limited to what happens inside the classroom. Our staff are also involved in extracurricular activities like camps, swimming lessons, and sports programs to help students build social skills, physical abilities, and confidence outside the traditional academic setting. These activities provide a safe and inclusive space for students to interact, make friends, and develop a well-rounded set of skills.
We are blessed with the opportunity to support and develop the students and staff at ACC. What a privilege it is to be part of a community that loves learning, loves children, loves the Lord. We are passionate about providing an education where students are supported to learn to value and respect themselves and each other.
