PRIMARY SCHOOL UPDATE Miss Vivian Lee (Primary Community & Ministry Coordinator)

Finishing Well and Easter Service

What a privilege it is to end our term in thankfulness to God.

This fortnight, as we come to the end of a rich and full term, the Primary School has been reflecting on what it means to finish well with thankful hearts for all that God has done among us. It has been a joy to pause and recognise the many ways our College community has grown this term both in knowledge and in character.

We thank God for our dedicated teachers and wider staff team, who faithfully care for, teach and invest in each student every day. We also thank God for every child in our community, each one uniquely made in the image of God, known and loved by Him. Throughout the term, students have been learning not only in the classroom, but also developing perseverance, kindness and humility - qualities that reflect the character of Jesus.

We are also deeply thankful for our families and wider College community. We praise God for the partnership we share in supporting and nurturing each child. Your encouragement, involvement and trust are a great gift, and we are thankful to walk alongside you in the learning and growth of your children.

We loved seeing many families join us for our Primary Easter Chapel Service, where we personally considered the events of the very first Easter. Together, we were reminded of this part of the incredible love of Jesus in Mark 10:45:

“The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”

In the Easter story, we see a God who does not remain distant, but who comes close to the people He loves. Students heard how Jesus willingly gave His life on the cross, taking the place of sinners, and how He did this out of deep love for His people. Even more wonderfully, we celebrated that Jesus did not stay dead. He defeated death forever and is alive today, bringing hope and new life to all who trust in Him.

As we finish the term, we do so with thankful hearts to God - for the gift of learning and for the growth we have already seen.

We pray that the upcoming holiday break will be a time of rest, refreshment and joy for all our families. We look forward to welcoming students back next term, ready for new opportunities to learn and grow, as we begin wearing Winter Uniform.

Sports Update for Term 2

  • Primary Sports day for Term 2 will be on Wednesdays and students will wear their winter sports uniform.

  • Inter-school sports teams will be announced in Week 1, Term 2.

  • Cross Country Carnival for Kindergarten-Year 2 and Years 3-6 will be on Wednesday 22 April, 2026 and this will be held at the College.

4W CLASS UPDATES Miss Anais Woods

This week in 4W, students became detectives, actors and interviewers in our class.

It all started when mysterious notes began appearing around the classroom. Messages like “You’re doing a great job today” and “God made you special” were found on desks, in books and even near the pencil tub. Naturally… suspicion grew.

Very quickly, all eyes turned to one suspect: Marsden Bear.

Students jumped into their roles, creating a hilarious performance. There were dramatic interviews, serious investigations with 'evidence boards,' and even a full interrogation, although Marsden Bear didn't say much.

As the mystery unfolded, something interesting happened. Students began doing exactly what the notes said: encouraging each other. Comments like “Your writing is really improving” and “That drawing looks amazing” started spreading across the room.

By the end, students realised something important: maybe the mystery wasn’t about who wrote the notes… but why they mattered.

This connected beautifully to our week's memory verse, 1 Thessalonians 5:11: “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up.” Students saw how simple, kind words can make a real difference and reflect God’s love in our everyday actions.

The skit was full of laughter, creativity and just the right amount of mystery. Most importantly, it helped build a classroom where encouragement is in action.

Although… a few students are still convinced it was Marsden Bear all along.

2L CLASS UPDATES Mrs Shirley Lie

Class 2L were delighted to welcome Marsden Bear for his very first visit! He arrived to find a classroom buzzing with excitement and eagerness to hold him and make him an honorary member of the class. There are no shortages of pets in 2L and he joined the ranks of five other furry friends that are shared as class pets. He joined Koala Kate, Kyle Kookaburra, Pete Platypus, Dave Dingo and Emily Emu - all lavished with love by the students.

During our morning routine, we have been reading about God's indescribable designs in science and reflecting on God's nature. The same power He breathed out to make the sun is the same power which helps us in our daily life. As majestic redwood trees are fed and produce branches, so God nourishes us through his grace and spirit, to keep growing in our character and faith. God created our ears in such a way that it also helps us with balance and taste. Our hearing is a gift from God and what we do with what we hear is our gift back to God. We reflected on the capacity, which God gives to tiny creatures. For example an ant can lift up to 50 times its own weight. As a child of God, we are packed with the power, strength and presence of God's spirit. We can ask God to help us use our bodies to honour him and do what he wants us to do. Praise God!

There is no shortage of learning happening in 1A! In Writing, students have been developing their narrative writing skills, planning their story by understanding the importance of an orientation, complication and resolution. We have been enriching our vocabulary in grammar by looking at nouns, pronouns, adjectives and conjunctions. In Maths, students have been reading and writing the time. We are learning how to add notes and coins as we try to understand the value of money.

This term 2L has enjoyed Drama in the classroom and learning about ways emotions can be expressed with actions, voice, facial and body gesture and tone. The students thoroughly enjoyed demonstrating their skills and acting out different stories and scenarios. They also practised script reading in small groups and were challenged to listen carefully, read with expression, meaning and on cue.

In our table groups, 2L are learning to work together to be Christlike and respectful learners. Each week, the best group is given a trophy for earning the most points throughout the week. Well done Dingoes for winning last week. So far Emus, Kookaburras and Platypus have also been winners.
