Year 3 Music with Mrs Turner

3V and 3G had an exciting day of music on Tuesday!

The Spring weather was perfect so 3V took their music lesson outside. They have recently learned to play harmonies (two or more complementing notes at a time) by working in small groups to rehearse their pieces.

Meanwhile, 3G were honoured to have a special guest visit their class. Mr Stepnieuski was on school grounds as an accompanist for one of our HSC music students and had some time to spare. Students had the privilege of being introduced to the trombone and the piano accordion. They loved hearing the instruments and learning about how the sound is made in each of them.

The Writing Revolution with Mrs Brayshaw (3B)

This term 3B has been learning about different types of texts and the various language features used in each, as well as developing our research and comprehension skills. Throughout the Commonwealth Games, we researched athletes in the Australian team. We then used this information to write a biography about the athlete.

We have also enjoyed researching a country of our choice to make a travel brochure and an animal of our choice to make a fact file. Using this information, we then made Google Slides to present our information digitally. Students have discovered how to use a range of features in their slides such as text boxes, arrows, maps and captions.

As part of our school-wide approach to literacy, our class has also been learning about a range of ‘The Writing Revolution’ strategies and using them to write information texts that relate to our study of Charlotte’s Web, particularly in our creation of informative profiles about each character in the text.

Book Week and Mathematics with Mrs Agda (1N)

It has been a very exciting couple of weeks for 1N! See below to hear what they've been up to:

Art with Mrs Wallace (5W)

In 5W for Art this term, we focused on introducing students to colour theory. Students were given opportunities to explore primary, secondary and tertiary colour schemes; warm and cool colours; and complementary colours. Students also experimented with other elements of art, including lines and shapes. Students have had opportunities to practice all these techniques and have really enjoyed creating and designing. Here are some of their favourite artworks!
