Cake Decorating Club
Our Cake Decorating Club first started in 2020, however quickly had to be closed due to COVID-19. As a result, this year is the first chance our primary students have had to enjoy uninterrupted fun decorating cakes!
The students in the club range from Year 4 through to Year 9. They have loved learning new skills and having a unique opportunity to display their creativity. The result has been some amazing ‘finished’ cake designs!
Some of the students will enter their cakes in the Hawkesbury Show in May 2023. Younger students have been particularly inspired by Annie Kennedy’s second place win in the Seniors Competition last year.
The club is very popular and has a waiting list so we will say goodbye to this group of lovely ladies to welcome the next group of talented students. The club schedule will be released early next term and we invite interested students to speak to Mrs Truman or Mrs LeGrange for details.
Flat Stanley in 3V with Mr Vlok
This term Year 3 students engaged in a novel study which focused on kindness, manners and how God made us all unique. He gave us our personalities and our talents to serve a purpose. Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown is a book that tells the story of a boy who was flattened when a bulletin board settled on him during the night. This resulted in him being able to do unusual things like crawl under doors, being flown as a kite and even stopping sneaky thieves from getting away by pretending to be a painting.
As part of their novel study the students in 3V made cut outs of Flat Stanley and took 'him' on adventures all over town. Some even went as far as Vivid Sydney and the Sydney Zoo. Students then presented their adventures to the class in digital and written presentations. Here are a selection of slides the students presented. Mr Vlok said, "I was very pleased with the outcome and was delighted that the students gained so much from reading this classic children's novel."
