Primary Learning Spotlight

Read more to hear about our first two weeks of school for our Primary students, including their first Chapel, Kindy activities in week 1, our ‘Meet the Teacher’ evening, and the wonderful time our students have had at gymnastics.

Welcome Back to all our Primary Kids at ACC

What a joy it is to have our students back on campus! We love seeing how they interact and play so kindly with one another.

Many of the staff have mentioned how settled the students are and we are grateful to God and to our College families for helping the students settle into their daily routines here, so they can listen, learn and enjoy their time with one another. School should be a great time of life where we see our students thrive. Please enjoy a selection of photos below and be delighted by their lovely smiles.

Primary Chapel and Assembly

Last Monday we enjoyed our very first Chapel for 2023! We heard about the God of the Bible - how he loves us and created us.

Our Principal, Mr Brendan Corr, also led us through a short Dedication Service, where students, staff and parents dedicated themselves to our Heavenly Father’s guidance as we journey through the year ahead.

Today we had the joy and privilege of inducting our new Primary School student leaders, thank you to all who attended!

We remind you that Chapels and Assemblies (alternating each week) are on every Monday at 9am, and we invite all our families, carers and friends to come and attend when you are able so you can see the students perform, receive awards and be encouraged as we hear from the Bible together.

Please note that parking onsite is very limited so we encourage you to arrive at 8:45am for a 9:00am start. See you then!

Kindy First Days with Ms Shirley Lie

What a huge couple of weeks it has been for our new Kindergarten students!

On their first day, the students had a busy time getting to know their classroom teacher, where their room was, where they put their bags, and where to play at recess and lunch. They also spent time interacting together during developmental play.

We have spent lots of time getting to know one another through name games, talking, and sharing their likes and dislikes with partners in class. The students also love playing on the play equipment together and running on the grass at recess. We also sing, dance, read the Bible and pray together. Students also get to meet their peers from other classes during gymnastics, and at our upcoming swimming carnival.

Our Early Stage 1 Coordinator, Ms Shirley Lie said, “I am humbled and privileged to have the opportunity to support and lead a dedicated and hard working team. I enjoy working collaboratively and being able to share my knowledge and experience, mentoring and encouraging others. I am most excited about watching the students develop confidence in themselves through their knowledge of the love of Christ.”

There are so many things our Kindergarten students will learn throughout their first year of school. One thing we will focus on is helping our students begin to develop an awareness and responsibility of their own behaviours. We will explore the big theme: ‘Who is God?’ and how can we make loving choices at school to help ourselves, and our peers.

Meet the Teacher

A big thank you to all our families for your attendance and support at last Tuesday’s ‘Meet the Teacher’ event. We are thankful for your positive feedback and kind words.

Our teachers were so excited to share what happens in the classroom over the course of the year. Many parents enquired after the behaviour resources that were referred to, please see the links below if you would like to access these.

You may like to talk about our ‘Fab 5’ with your child at home and even display these somewhere if you wish.

Thank you again for your ongoing partnership.

Gymnastics

There were smiles all round as our kids began their Gymnastic programme at the Sydney Gymnastics and Aquatic Centre. Our students dazzled us with warm up exercises, tumbles, balancing beams, swings, star jumps, trampolining and crazy moves.

Mr Parsonage, our Assistant Head of Primary, joined in with the fun and kept a close eye on all our students supporting them and cheering them forward. We are really looking forward to seeing how our kids grow in skills and confidence. Enjoy some photos of our kids below.
