Traffic Safety

As we become more familiar with new citations it is easy to become a little complacent about proper safety protocols and practices. That might be part of why we are seeing a growing number of actions during afternoon pick up that could compromise the safety of students and other members of the community.

I understand that sometimes these safety requirements can be inconvenient and involve more time, but I ask you to consider the potential impact of an accident.

With that in mind can I ask you to please remember the following:

  • Between 8:00am - 8:30am and 2:20pm - 3:30pm enter and exit the campus using left turn in and left turn out.

  • Avoid making U-turns in the school zone.

  • Don’t cross the road or cross at the car entry/exit gate to collect children or call them across the road to you.

  • Use the pedestrian gate and path rather than the vehicle entry when on foot.

Thank you all for your continued cooperation.

ACC Marsden Park HSC Exam Centre Presiding Officer

Earlier in the year I received a number of responses to my request for Expressions of Interest from members of the community about working as the NESA Presiding Officer for the HSC exams centre on our campus. Unfortunately we are yet to identify someone who is able to fill that role.

This is a final call to anyone who might be interested in filling this position to contact me for more information.

In short, the role works for NESA throughout the period of the HSC exams and is responsible for securely collecting and delivering completed exams to the NESA Security Centre; scheduling and overseeing the team of exam supervisors; coordinating the set up of exam areas and following all security and administrative procedures surrounding examinations.

If you or anyone you know would be interested in this opportunity, please leave your name and number with Reception on 02 9421 7111.

2023 Enrolments

During the enrolment process, prospective families consistently share with us positive recommendations from our existing families. Our word-of-mouth reputation is strong and we deeply appreciate your referrals!

Enrolments for 2023 continue to be strong, with waiting lists now in place across most year groups. Considering this, we wanted to provide a reminder to all our current families with younger siblings. We ask that you please aim to submit an application at least two years in advance of your child’s commencement. We always aim to prioritise the siblings of our existing families, but can only do so if we have places available.

This is also a timely reminder of the fee notice period in place for any withdrawals. If you are planning to relocate at the end of the year, please notify us by the end of this term.

School Photos

School photos have arrived! We will be distributing these in Homeroom on Monday morning (29 August). Some families have requested to pick up their photos from Reception, if this is applicable to you then please pick them up as soon as you can from Monday morning. Thank you!

School Uniforms

For any families who require new uniforms, please note that orders required for January 2023 must be placed by 20 December. For more information about school uniforms for Term 4 or the start of 2023, please click here.

We have also opened uniform fitting appointments for the rest of the year. If you would like to book an appointment, please click here.

Father’s Day Dress-Up and Event

A reminder that Friday 2 September is a ‘gold coin donation’ dress up day for K - 12 students in honour of Father’s Day. We encourage all students to wear their PE uniform with a sports jersey or sporting colours on top.

We are also having a ‘drive-through’ Father’s Day event that morning during ‘Kiss N Drop’. We encourage all the dads and father figures in our community to drop their children at school that day if possible, so that we can welcome and encourage you as you drive through and give you a small gift as a token of our appreciation for all you do.

SmartPlay Vacation Care Program

SmartPlay Marsden Park Vacation Care is available these school holidays, and provides primary school age (Prep to Year 6) care from 6:30am - 6:30pm commencing Monday 26th of September to Friday 7th of October. ACC Portraiture Prize Winners

We are delighted with the enthusiastic response to our inaugural ACC Portraiture Prize - we had over 120 students (both on-campus and via distance education) submit a portrait for consideration!

A selection of works will be stored and sent next year as submissions for the national ‘Young Archie’ competition which is part of the larger Archibald Prize. We look forward to having a selection of our students' work entered each year.

A huge congratulations to Caytlyn Tan (Year 7) for winning the ACC Portraiture Prize. Her work, entitled ‘My Cheeky Self’ is a portrait of her sister, created using prismacolour and Faber Castell colouring pencils. Our Executive Staff and Creative Arts teachers voted on works that they gravitated towards based on materials and techniques, subject matter, and whether the artist captured the ‘essence’ of the person. Well done Caytlyn!

We also want to congratulate Shadrach Samuel (Year 5) for winning the ‘Packing Room Prize’, voted on by Senior Visual Arts students. His work is highly skilled, especially for a student of his age. Jed King (Year 7) took out the coveted ‘People’s Choice Award’ for his work entitled ‘In Loving Memory, Brother’ with a message to never give up.

Please see below for the other prize-winners:

  • Outstanding Achievement (5 - 8 Years) - Noah Thomson, Kindergarten

  • Outstanding Achievement (9 - 12 Years) - Angus Brady, Year 4

  • Outstanding Achievement (13 - 15 Years) - Ameli Ritcher, Year 9

  • Outstanding Achievement (16 - 18 Years) - Kagiso Moyo, Year 11

We encourage all our students to start working on their submissions for next year and can’t wait to see what is produced!

MAD Night

It was such a joy to witness the fantastic turn out at MAD Night last week. Thank you for coming along to support our students in their creative pursuits!

Our Elective Music students from Years 9, 10 and 11 brilliantly performed pieces in an atmospheric outdoor setting. Our Year 12 Music students also performed some of their HSC pieces for the MAD night audience, which are going to be presented in front of HSC markers in just a few weeks. The variety of genres and the quality of the skills demonstrated were greatly appreciated by a large, admiring audience!

It was also wonderful to have some of our Distance Education students performing in the Art installation space. The music created a beautiful, ambient atmosphere for the space while the audience were quietly walking around enjoying the artworks and engaging in hushed conversation. One audience member mentioned that the music made the event feel formal and was fitting for the quality of the artwork produced.

We are so immensely proud of all the students for representing themselves, their families and their school so brilliantly, and for the high quality of the work they have produced.
