Parent Announcements

Read more to hear about our Staff Conference occurring next week, positions vacant in the College and our upcoming HSC Presiding Officer role.

Staff Conference: Monday 15 May - Wednesday 17 May

On Monday 15 May through to Wednesday 17 May, ACC Marsden Park will be running an Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI) Conference for our teaching staff. EDI is one of the College's Signature Pedagogies, supporting our staff in delivering our students well-crafted, purposeful lessons.

We are so glad to have secured consultant Mr Joe Ybarra, an internationally recognised expert in Explicit Direct Instruction, to work with our staff for three days. We will also be hosting delegates from network schools as part of this event.

There will be some slight alterations to our usual practice in order to accommodate the conference. Casual and cover staff will be rostered to allow College staff to observe Mr Ybarra's teaching, or to meet with him for a workshop. Some classes will be taken by Mr Ybarra as the teacher, and observed by delegates from the College or delegates from our network schools.

Our Secondary School will be having an additional assembly on Monday afternoon. We have engaged a guest speaker, Aduk Dau, from The Lost Children of Jonglei Scholarships. Aduk will talk about her ministry in providing secondary schooling to children in refugee camps whose families originate from Jonglei State, South Sudan and have been displaced through civil war. The assembly will be staffed by members of the College Leadership Team, allowing a greater number of our staff to attend a session with Mr Ybarra.

We are looking forward to the professional learning that our staff will encounter during this time and the inspiration our Secondary students will receive from time with our guest speaker.
