This week we are introducing you to Elijah Mthembu, our Sport Administrator.
Tell us a bit about yourself - your background, experience, when did you start at ACC and what is your role?
My background is pretty varied: sports development, church planting, and fundraising. After coming to Australia five years ago, I worked as a Sports Manager at an Indoor Sports Centre. I started at ACC a year ago, as both a DE Welfare Officer and Sport Administrator. I have since completely transitioned to being Sport Administrator.
What do you love about your job?
I love working in a Christian environment with people who truly have a genuine faith in Jesus!
What are some of the big projects happening that you are working on?
We are currently organising Secondary School sport for Term 4. This term we will be playing Touch Football every Tuesday against other schools in our West Met Zone. In addition to this, I am part of a coaching team (with Jonathon Skelly and Alex Kwok) that recently launched a futsal development program for Year 6 and 7 students. We currently have 10 students selected for this program. We aim to extend the program to Year 5 students and Year 8 and 9 girls in 2024.
