This week we are introducing you to Mrs Tiarne Tranter, our Sport Coordinator.
Tell us a bit about yourself - your background, experience, when did you start at ACC and what is your role?
I am married to Benjamin Tranter (who is also at ACC!) and we have an 18 month old daughter who keeps us well and truly on our toes! We have a groodle named Michael who the ACC community affectionately knows as ’the big cute dog from the book week videos’! Outside of working at ACC, I spend a lot of my time serving as part of the CityAlight Worship team, and am heading to the US and Singapore during these school holidays to serve at The Gospel Coalition Conference and ministry workshops.
I started working at ACC in 2014 as a PDHPE teacher and since then have enjoyed serving as the PDHPE Team Leader, and Sport Coordinator across the College (current role). During my time at ACC, I have also been involved in Ministry events, Student Leadership and events in the Secondary School.
What do you love about your job?
I love working at ACC! It is so clear that God is moving in this community, and it is such a blessing to be a part of God’s work here. As a part of my role as Sport Coordinator, I have the privilege of seeing students demonstrate their God-given talents on the sporting field and it’s an honour to facilitate some of these opportunities for them. One of my favourite things about my current role is seeing students discover strengths in themselves that they didn’t even know they had! I am so proud of the way that our students engage with the sporting program at ACC, it’s a blessing to see how they rally around one another and celebrate the wins of others.
What are some of the big projects happening that you are working on?
The end of Term Three is when our students are participating at some of the highest levels for sport in the schools pathway (particularly in the Athletics space), so a big part of my work at this time of year is preparing entries and event details for these athletes. As we move quickly toward the end of the school year, Elijah Mthembu (Sport Administrator) and myself will be working towards formalising acknowledgment of all the wonderful achievements of our students in 2023 at our end of year Assemblies.
