Meet the ACC Team

This week we are introducing you to Mrs Ruth Donaldson, our Senior Administration Assistant.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your family.

I have been married for 34 years, and we are blessed with four children and three grandchildren. I have been a Christian for over 50 years and attend a Baptist Church on the Central Coast.

Growing up, I attended a small Christian school in south Sydney and commuted every day for 1 ½ hours each way to and from school. Fortunately I love to drive and travel, as my commute now takes me between 1 ½ to 2 ½ hours to get to and from ACC each day.

In my free time I like to build Lego designs and play games. When I was younger I used to compete in many sports: track and field athletics, competition squash, volleyball, netball, swimming, cricket, and ten pin bowling to name a few.

When did you start working at ACC and how has your role changed over time?

There were so many things I loved doing at school which made choosing a career extremely difficult at the end of Year 12. With the Lord’s guidance, he led me to a small newly-registered school on the outskirts of north-western Sydney where my ability to help in any way I could was a blessing. That school is now known as Australian Christian College, Marsden Park. I have been working here since 2000 where I started as a Volunteer Teacher.

Over the years I have done many jobs: Teaching (many subjects), Bus Driving, Canteen Coordinator, Reception, Administration, Uniform Warehouse Coordinator, IT Support, Enrolments, DE Residential/Camp Coordinator etc... just to name a few!

I am currently the Senior Administration Assistant with the responsibility for incoming accounts, payroll, ordering, and generally assisting to anyone's needs.

What do you love about working at ACC?

I love working at ACC and being able to work in such a God-centred environment is such a blessing. Having the support and love of the staff and knowing you are covered in prayer daily is also comforting to know. I love seeing the love of God shared and displayed to the students in all areas of life.

How has the College changed while you’ve been here?

Having been here for 23 years I have seen many changes. Not only the number of students currently enrolled but also changes to the campus. The school started in the front ‘farmhouse’ with all the students in one room. I have watched the installation of all the buildings and changes to the landscape with trees coming down, gardens going in and boundaries expanding. The distance covered in walking each day keeps your steps up!

I hope to serve where the Lord needs me at ACC for many years to come!
