DISTANCE EDUCATION UPDATE Bradley Whale
As we move toward the middle of Term 1, we continue to see our Distance Education community flourish through building connections and shared purpose.Â
A particular recent highlight was the official commissioning of our Year 12 Distance Education (DE) Leaders, held onsite on Friday 27 February. At ACC Marsden Park, we believe that leadership is not merely a title, but a calling to serve others. It was a joy to witness our senior students step into these roles with such heart and dedication.
It was a truly special occasion to have our DE leaders on campus, joined by their families and friends. In a distance education setting, the moments we gather in person are deeply cherished. Seeing the smiles and the sense of pride among the families as their children were commissioned was a reminder of the strong support networks that underpin our students' success. We are grateful to the families who made the journey to be with us; your presence added a wonderful warmth to the ceremony.
One of the most valuable aspects of the day was the opportunity for our DE leaders to work alongside our On Campus College Leaders. Whilst their daily learning environments may differ, they are united by a common goal: to represent and serve the student body of ACC. This collaboration allowed the students to build meaningful connections, reminding us that we are "one body" working together toward a shared vision.
During the day, the combined Student Leadership Team had the privilege of listening to and working with Mr Leighton Corr (Executive Head - Character and Capacity), who discussed the true nature of leadership. He shared insights into what leadership looks like, what people look for in leaders and how to lead in a Christian context. It was a great time of reflection and inspiration that set a professional and positive tone for the year ahead.
Following these sessions, our leaders began the practical work of planning for their time in office. Working closely with their team and DE Community Development Mentor, Mrs Natasha Collins, they began to strategise key focus areas for the 2026 school year. From enhancing student engagement to fostering acts of kindness within the DE community, the ideas being generated are both innovative and both community and heart-centered.
We are excited to see the fruits of this leadership, with a number of our leaders reflecting on the day, noting how encouraged they felt to begin working on initiatives that will help younger students all the way through to our senior students. We look forward to seeing how this leadership team translates their vision into action over the coming months.
As we look ahead, we ask our community to keep these Year 12 leaders in your prayers. May they lead with wisdom, grace, and a spirit of service as they walk alongside their peers.
