DISTANCE EDUCATION UPDATE Ms Natasha Collins (DE Community Development Coordinator)
It has been a wonderful season of connection for our Distance Education community! From welcoming students onto campus and sharing special events together, to celebrating Book Week virtually, we have loved creating opportunities for our DE students and families to connect with one another and with our College community. Here are some of the highlights from recent weeks.
Year 12 Morning Tea We had the pleasure of hosting DE Students at our campus for their HSC trials over the last few weeks. It’s not very often that most of our Year 12 DE students are on campus at the same time so we thought why not capitalise on the opportunity and have them all come over to our beautiful Lumination Lab for some morning tea!
It was such a wonderful time for our students to connect with each other and their teachers before we meet again for the graduation ceremony at the end of the term. We will miss this cohort very much when they graduate!
Dan Warlow and Primary DE Connection Our Primary DE families were recently invited on campus to join the Dan Warlow concert. Dan Warlow’s music reminds our students (and all of us) of God’s promises, that we do not need to fear, and we have God by our side wherever we go.
After the concert we welcomed our families and students to our cottage for some snacks and games. It was so lovely to reconnect and meet some new families at this event. We are excited to meet some more families at our Primary Encounter event next term.
Book Week DE Virtual Parade For Book Week celebrations we hosted a Distance Education Virtual Parade! We had 85 wonderful faces join us last Tuesday to celebrate characters and stories. We played a game of ‘Where’s Wally?’ together and shared who we dressed up as for the event! Thank you to everyone who came online, dressed up and shared.
Our winners for our Book Week Bookmark competition and Book Week Costumes will be announced early next week!
Stage 5 Connection Day We had 50 students register for our recent Stage 5 Connection Day! We gathered students from our partner dance schools, Elite Pursuits Performers and students from all over the state including regions near Wagga Wagga and Orange. Students had opportunities to meet some of their teachers and hear some advice from our Year 12 leaders about their DE experience as students. We played a number of team building games and participated in various Campus Challenges. It was an incredible day for our students to connect and make some new friends.
